How to Get to Monorail Dubai by Metro

If you are planning to visit the stunning Palm Jumeirah, the Monorail is a great way to get there. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to get to Monorail Dubai by Metro:

  1. Start at the Metro’s Red Line
  2. Get off at Sobha Reality Station and Head to Dubai Marina Tram Station
  3. Board the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station
  4. Take the footbridge to Palm Gateway Station and arrive at the Monorail

Let me explain these steps in detail.

Start at the Metro’s Red Line

The Red Line is one of the two lines that form the backbone of the Dubai Metro network. It is the longest and most popular metro route in Dubai.

The Red Line runs from Centrepoint (formerly Rashidiya) in the east to Expo City Dubai (formerly Expo 2020) in the west. It travels parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road for most of its length.

The Red Line passes through key areas such as Dubai International Airport, Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Marina, and Expo City Dubai. It has two interchange stations with the Green Line: Union and BurJuman.

In addition, Jabal Ali is an interchange between the main Red Line (Route 2020) to Expo City Dubai and the branch line to UAE Exchange.

Now, if you are at the Union Station in Deira, you are already on the Red Line. Union is one of the two transfer stations between the two major Dubai Metro operational lines. From Union Station, you can travel toward Sobha Reality Station.

Get off at Sobha Reality Station

Google Maps showing the fastest path from Sobha Reality Station to Dubai Marina Tram Station. It is for those going to Monorail via the Metro.

From Sobha Reality Station, you will find a footbridge that will take you directly to Dubai Marina Tram Station. This is not just any footbridge; it is fully air-conditioned to provide comfort from the Dubai heat.

The footbridge is equipped with four Travelators, two on each side, making your walk easier. To reach Dubai Marina Tram Station, you will need to take the right-side Travelators.

The journey across the footbridge takes no more than 3-5 minutes, so you will be at the tram station in no time.

Once you have reached the end of the Travelator, you will find stairs and an escalator that will take you down to the tram station. Choose the option that is most convenient for you.

Once you are at the station, make sure to read the signs carefully. You will want to head towards Al Sofouh.

Board the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station

The next step in your journey is to board the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station. Here is what you need to know:

Wait for the Tram: If the tram is not at the station when you arrive, don’t worry. Trams arrive at the station every 7 minutes, so you won’t have to wait long.

Have Your Nol Card Ready: Before you board the tram, make sure you have your Nol Card ready for check-in. This card is used to pay for public transport in Dubai. You will need to scan or ‘punch’ your card at the designated machines before you get on the tram.

Board the Tram: Once the tram arrives and you have checked in with your Nol Card, you can board the tram. Make sure to find a seat or hold onto the handrails for safety.

Avoid Fines: It is important to note that if you board the tram without scanning your Nol Card, and if the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) checks, you could be fined. So, always remember to check in with your Nol Card to avoid any penalties.

Take the footbridge to Palm Gateway Station and arrive at the Monorail

After alighting from the tram at Palm Jumeirah Tram Station, the next step in your journey is to take the footbridge to Palm Gateway Station.

Locate the Footbridge: The footbridge is conveniently located near Palm Jumeirah Tram Station. It is designed to provide a safe and comfortable passage for pedestrians.

Cross the Footbridge: Start your short walk across the footbridge.
