In Dubai, electronic items like laptops, smartphones, cameras, tablets, and LED TVs are relatively cheaper. Markets like Al Fahidi Street and stores like Sharaf DG offer good bargains on various international brands, including Apple. These places are famous for their wide range of products and reasonable prices. Let’s get into the details!
Why are Electronic Items Cheap In Dubai?
According to the International Trade Administration, the government of Dubai has established various free trade zones, allowing companies to import products, including electronic items, without paying taxes. So, this is one of the reasons electronic items are relatively cheaper in Dubai.
In addition, public sector investment in Dubai drives demand for electronic items. For example, almost all sectors, including healthcare, aerospace, defense, transportation, retail, hospitality, household, etc., link to Dubai’s economic diversification plan.
Where to Find Cheap Electronic Items in Dubai?
You can find cheap electronic items in Dubai in various stores. However, the best stores with reasonable prices are:
- Sharaf DG
- Al Fahidi Street
- Jumbo Electronics
- Besomi Electronics
Sharaf DG
Sharaf DG has numerous electronic items, including laptops, mobile phones, televisions, tablets, gaming consoles, home appliances, cameras, etc. It has items from top brands like Dell, Microsoft, LG, Samsung, and Apple.
Sharaf DG has reasonable prices, with discounts of up to 80% on most items. For example, it offers 40% off on home appliances, 30% on gaming consoles, and 20% on Android smartphones. But keep in mind that these are discounts I found about when I visited the store recently. So, Sharaf DG may change its discount rates from time to time.
You can find Sharaf DG in multiple locations in Dubai. These are:
- Times Square Center between 3rd and 4th interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road
- Mall of the Emirates
- Dubai Mall
- City Center Deira
You can visit Sharaf DG via the Dubai Metro, by taxi, or by car. Most Sharaf DG stores are open from 10 AM to 10 PM from Sunday to Wednesday. The stores are open from 10 AM to 12 PM from Thursday to Saturday.
Al Fahidi Street
Al Fahidi Street is a famous place in Bur Dubai. You can go there by public transport or taxi if you don’t have a car license. You can find various electronic items here, including new and used cellphones, cameras, laptops, and home appliances like washing machines, refrigerators, and ovens.
Prices on Al Fahidi Streets are relatively lower than other places in Dubai.
I bought a used smartphone at Al Fahidi Street two months ago. The price was even cheaper than most phones I browsed in Sharjah.
Well, Sharjah is way cheaper than Dubai, but when it comes to electronic items, especially used ones, Al Fahidi Street is a good place to explore.
On the other hand, if you intend to buy a new electronic item, make sure you ask for a warranty. And don’t forget to check the product’s voltage to ensure it matches your preference.
Jumbo Electronics
You can go to Jumbo Electronics at Level 2 in Dubai Mall. It also has stores in the Emirates Mall and Jebel Ali. I went to the Central Service Center of Jumbo Electronics in Jebel Ali. It is on the Lahbab Road (E77 Road) NEAR Al Tayer Motors. Anyway, this is another place to find top-notch electronic items for reasonable prices.
The prices at Jumbo Electronics are affordable because Dubai has a duty-free port. Products like electronic items are exempt from taxes, making them more affordable than in other countries.
Moreover, Jumbo Electronics has strategic partnerships with brands that produce quality and reasonably priced products. My cousin bought a Dell laptop for 1250 AED with 8GB RAM and a 512 GB HDD drive.
Besomi Electronics
If you want to browse a wide range of electronic items, go to the main store of Besomi Electronics. Besomi’s main store is shop number 39 Baghlaf Building, Naif Road. It is opposite to the West Hotel. The store is open from 9 AM to 9 PM from Monday to Saturday.
You can find products like chargers, batteries, circuit protection devices, sensors, wireless modules, drones, and other types of electronic items at affordable prices. I have mentioned this place because I bought two 3.7V 3800mAH batteries for just 5 AED.
